Install a Shower Wall Niche in 20 Minutes!
This video demonstrates how to install and prep a niche in 20 minutes. This does not include the time it takes to tile the niche.

Install your tile backerboard. Make sure to frame out the niche so that you have studs to screw the niche to. Measure your opening and cut out for the niche installation. Install the niche using screws to studs. Waterproof the perimeter of the niche as well as the screws with a waterproof membrane such as RedGard. You may need to float out tiles a bit as the niche flange is about 1/16 - 1/8 of an inch thick.
