Morning Reads: “Fervent” (Passionate) in Spirit - “Seek Praise of Men or Seek the Praise of God???

Good morning. Great is His faithfulness. Christ is in our Midst.

Greek word of the day- ἡγέομαι hēgéomai, hayg-eh'-om-ahee; middle voice of a (presumed) strengthened form of G71; to lead, i.e. command (with official authority); figuratively, to deem, i.e. consider:—account, (be) chief, count, esteem, governor, judge, have the rule over, suppose, think.

1 Timothy 1:12

And I thank Christ Jesus our Lord who has enabled me, because He counted me faithful, putting me into the ministry,

Acts 18:22-28- "Apollos gets Instructions"

Let's look at the two greatest qualities that characterize Apollos: The First, is that he is FERVENT (passionate) IN SPIRIT. The second is his humility, Apollos ability to be humble is what excels him as a good leader to teach the Word of God with great passion. A fervent person like Apollos is very useful to God, and it doesn't matter if they aren't yet that well taught. Apollos spoke BODLY IN THE SYNAGOGUE, and we see is humility when we was taken aside by both Aquila and Pricilla and was corrected by them. Also one of them was a woman so during those days it would have been offensive to most educated men of his culture to have been corrected by a woman. Both Aquila and Pricilla show great wisdom, because they did not correct Apollos publicly but did it privately- THEY TOOK HIM ASIDE- a great example of what real leadership truly is.

John 12:36-47- "Seek The praise of men or the praise of God?"

John 12:42-43: Nevertheless even among the rulers many believed in Him, but because of the Pharisees they did not confess Him, lest they should be put out of the synagogue; 43 for they loved the praise of men more than the praise of God.

St. John Chrysostom teaches ON THESE RULERS- are in reality the worst slaves in that they are enslaved by THE OPINIONS OF MEN. This keeps them from leading AS GOD would have them lead.

"Leaders should always lead by example. A good leader should never show partiality or even be engaged in hypocrisy. Seeking the praise of others and neglecting the praise of God means you have neglected what's right before God. Our Lord shows no partiality and He teaches us that all groups should be treated fairly and that ALL VOICES SHOULD BE HEARD. By showing partiality and seeking the praise of men means you have chosen the path of the LEAVEN OF THE PHARISEES and that is HYPOCRISY!!!"

Truth without obedience is hypocrisy; obedience without truth is legalism.
