We listen to a fugue by Ferruccio Busoni while Justin asks the pilots where the curvature of the earth actually is, and while we can look at the straight horizon, Oyvond Aase plays us the miniature op. 5, no. 2 by Alf Hurum. Born 1882 in Kristiania (Oslo), Hurum died in 1972 in Honolulu. After studying architecture, Alf Hurum began studying harmony and counterpoint with the composer Iver Holter and piano with Martin Knutzen from 1902, and in 1905-07 composition at the Berlin Akademie der Künste with Max Bruch and others.
In the spring of 1911 he went to Paris and stayed there for most of the year. There he became acquainted with Impressionism, both as music and as visual art. He cultivated both art forms there.
