This protest against dividing the city up into districts, similar to the proposal for Oxford, was held in Canterbury on 20th May 2023.

Clair, one of the organisers of the day, spoke briefly followed by a 15 minute walk around the city centre.

From March 2022:
"... the “15-minute city” concept—which implies having all necessary amenities within a short walk, bike ride, or public transit trip from one’s home—has demonstrated stickiness not just as an idea, but as a powerful tool for action – from Paris to Seoul, from Bogotá to Houston."

From October 2022:
"Drivers could be fined for driving into Canterbury, with a new environmentally friendly traffic scheme splitting the city into "neighbourhoods", despite anger from residents."

"This plan complements the existing National Plan for Roadside Nitrogen Dioxide (NO2) , which seeks to introduce
Clean Air Zones (CAZ) into a number of cities across the UK where levels of NO2 are shown to be in breach of the EU Limit Value
for compliance with the Ambient Air Quality Directive (2008/50/EC). Canterbury is not included in this list, but the horizon of this plan
mirrors, broadly, the overall timescales to which the Clean Air Zone City Framework will be working."
