Governor Kathy Hochul (D-NY) joined New York City Mayor Eric Adams for a joint press conference on Monday to ask the White House to expediate work permits for asylum seekers. Gov. Hochul said the unprecedented arrival of migrants to New York City in recent weeks was an opportunity to tackle the labor shortage. “They're eager to work. They want to work. They came here in search of work and a new future and they can become part of our economy and part of our communities,” said Gov. Hochul.
