WTP_NWLA/Desoto Historical and Genealogical Society member Diane Long joined with the membership of the Desoto Historical and Genealogical society to donate a piece of history salvaged from the log cabin Courthouse in Mansfield Louisiana to the Mansfield Female College Museum.

During restoration of the original log cabin Mansfield/Desoto Parish courthouse members of the society found an old tally sheet used to record the results of an election conducted in Desoto Parish on January 25, 1916. The tally sheet has been donated to the Mansfield Women's college and will be on public display at that facility.

The first women's institute of higher learning west of the Mississippi River, Mansfield Female College Museum is located about a half-hour's drive south of Shreveport. Established by the Methodist Church in the 1850s, it served the needs of families in this region of Louisiana for more than 70 years until it was closed and merged with nearby Centenary College in Shreveport. During the Civil War, the college's buildings served as hospitals for wounded soldiers from the nearby Battle of Mansfield
