Several hundreds of trucks got stuck on a bypass road to Tbilisi in the Kvemo Kartli region, as seen in footage filmed on Saturday, May 28.

According to drivers, the vehicles are moving from the Georgian-Armenian border to the Russian-Georgian Upper Lars checkpoint. Truckers say they have been waiting in the traffic jam for about two weeks.

Paata Tsagareishvili, director of the Transport Corridor Research Centre, told Ruptly on Tuesday that the reason for the downtime of trucks could have been the disruption of transport and logistics chains from the Russian-Ukrainian border, which caused a large flow of trucks via Georgia.

At the time of publishing, the Georgian Border Police has not responded to Ruptly's request for comment on the situation.
