Hi, it’s Patrik Hutzel from intensivecarehotline.com with another quick tip for families in intensive care.
So, I had an email from Lionel, and Lionel says, “Hey, my mom is in ICU and I’m just learning that she’s probably not as bad as I initially thought she would be because the ICU team has been telling me she’s going to die. And it was all doom and gloom and negative. And now she’s been in ICU for about 10 days after a car accident. And now she’s slowly improving.”
And, Lionel says in his email that he’s been watching our videos and reading our blog and that gave him hope. And he could see that, when you are armed with the right information, you have a lot of leverage. You have a lot of power. You have peace of mind, you have influence, you have control and you can actually make informed decisions.
And that’s exactly the situation that Lionel has found himself in, because he all of a sudden realized that over 90% of patients in intensive care actually survive. And if you watched my videos or read my blog for any length of time, you will always hear me say that, if 90% of patients survive, why should your loved one be the one out of 10, not surviving? And that’s what Lionel has done in this situation. He asked the questions, “Why should my mom not survive in intensive care?” And he’s forever grateful that, we are publishing this information and empower people.
