US Holding Secret Talks With Syria As Washington Condemns Assad Regime’s Arab League Return

An Arab League official has told The Cradle that the US is holding secret and direct negotiations with the Syrian government. The official reportedly said that talks between Washington and Syria are currently underway in Muscat. The report of secret talks between the two sides comes as the US continues to condemn Syria’s return to the Arab League. Experts say the US’ secret talks with Damascus while criticising its Arab allies for rehabilitating Damascus exposes America’s doublespeak. The report comes as Syrian President Bashar al-Assad is in Jeddah, to attend the Arab League summit after nearly 12 years of suspension.
