AFTER Tom Green would become one of the biggest comedy stars in all of America for a brief period of time during the late 90s and early 2000s thanks to his absurdist and often shocking sense of humor, nearly thirty years later he’d find himself on the outside of Hollywood looking in. Literally. But before he’d turn into Canada’s most humorous rural farmer, Tom Green was born on July 30th, 1971 in Pembroke, Ontario to his parents Mary and Richard Green. Mary was a communications consultant and Richard was a computer systems analyst as well as a retired army captain -- which meant Tom spent his childhood on the Canadian Army base known as CFB Petawawa. At the age of fifteen, Tom’s father dropped him off at the local Student Employment Center and from that point forward, Tom would funnel all the money he made mowing people’s lawns into his own creative ambitions. First, he used the money to buy a drum machine, which helped him make his very first rap album. Then, Tom began performing stand-up comedy as early as 15. By the time he was in college, Tom was hosting a radio show and had formed a rap group known as “Organized Rhyme” where he took on the persona of MC Bones. If you’re living outside of Canada, odds are, you’ve never heard of them -- but they were popular enough in their native homeland that they earned a Juno nomination -- Canada’s equivalent to the Grammys.
