German-Made Nigerian Air Force Planes Trial Flights Above Lagos | 1964 Independence Day Celebrations

The Dornier Do 27 was a German-made single-engine utility aircraft notable for having been the first mass-produced aircraft in Germany after World War II.
The Nigerian Air Force was formally established via the Air Force Act (1964). It was formed with the technical assistance of West Germany which provided the German Air Force Assistance Group (GAFAG), headed by Colonel Gerhard Kahtz.
Colonel Kahtz became the first Chief of the Air Staff of Nigeria (1963 to 1965), and his countryman Wolfgang Thimmig, a fighter pilot for the German Luftwaffe during World War 2, became the second Chief of the Air Staff (1965-1966).
