Naijha speaks with Joseph Odika, the content creator of Vegfest Nigeria. A plant-based, climate-driven campaign to popularize plant-based lifestyle and policy in Nigeria.

Joseph’s background was in Aviation Management and Education. He is the publisher of Poloplus magazine and the author of Archives of Polo. His animal advocacy work began with a Polo Welfare column in the polo magazine after watching a horse sustain limb damage during a polo match.
From that point, he saw the need to expand and incorporate all animals in the welfare column of the magazine. This inspired him to establish a non-profit which is known today as the Animal Protection Organization of Nigeria - APON. The Organization is saddled with obligations to protect animals from suffering and proffer solutions to environmental issues caused by factory farming.

He's currently on the advisory board of the Aquatic Animal Alliance. A community ambassador for Sentient Media and Wedidit.Health. He has led several campaigns in Nigeria to liberate animals. Notably, he took a giant stride to campaign against global brands to commit to cage-free policies which had remarkable wins across the world.

AND, Jessica Cruz, CEO and founder of Vegan Street Fair, which is currently on a nine-city tour, and Vegan Exchange Events based out of Los Angeles, CA. As a vegan for almost a decade, Jessica strives to “mainstream” veganism by making it as accessible to as many populations as possible by providing free events that are child friendly, ADA compliant, low cost, and public transportation adjacent. Jessica spends her downtime exploring the outdoors with her children, taking salsa lessons, watching a good TV drama, crafting with her Cricut, spending time with her friends or playing board games with her husband.
