Astronomers have made a fascinating discovery of an Earth-sized planet that defies our expectations.

Named LP 791-18 d, this exoplanet stands out for its stark dissimilarity to Earth. Researchers suggest that its surface is likely dominated by volcanoes, with eruptions occurring at a frequency comparable to Io, one of Jupiter’s moons renowned for its intense volcanic activity.

The identification of this exoplanet relied on data collected from various sources, including NASA’s Transiting Exoplanet Survey Satellite (TESS), the retired Spitzer Space Telescope, and ground-based observatories, CNN reported.
