Manchester City Trash Real Madrid to Reach Champions League Final

Manchester City overpowered Madrid 4-0 at Etihad Stadium on Wednesday night and secured a place in the Champions League final against Inter Milan to be played in Istanbul.

The English side displayed an outstanding performance in front of their joyous fans at Etihad Stadium and dominated the game for 90 minutes. The seemingly tired and less motivated Madrid players had nothing to threaten City, other than creating a few chances.

Bernardo Silva, City’s Portuguese mastermind scored a first-half double, followed by Kevin De Bruyne’s free-kick into the net after the break, and eventually, Julian Alvarez made it four in the last minutes of the game, making it 5-1 on aggregate. The win averaged last year’s heartbreak at the hands of Carlo Ancelotti’s side.

City have lost two previous semi-finals to Real but they made no mistake here at Etihad Stadium this time, and now stand one step away from claiming the trophy that has always stayed tantalizingly out of reach for Pep Guardiola’s team over the past years.

With the outstanding performance City displayed against Real Madrid, obviously, they are the favorite side the win the Champions League, the most prestigious award in world football.

City have put themselves in a magnificent position to become only the second English club to win the Treble first claimed by Manchester United in 1999.

In the Premier League, City look to have eventually broken Arsenal in the title race and will be the favorites to beat Inter Milan, although the desire to keep this feat for themselves will provide fuel and inspiration for United in the FA Cup final at Wembley.
