Joseph in the Old Testament was the son of the prophet Jacob and his many brothers. In Genesis we see how his brothers betray Joseph through jealousy. They try to kill him and even put Joseph into Egyptian slavery. Joseph eventually winds up in prison for a crime he didn't do. But God never abandons Joseph and restores his life because of his faithfulness. Eventually Joseph forgives his brothers for having turned on him.
