"Island unto ourselves." (Isaiah 23:1-7)

Everyone is standing on somebody's shoulders. Family, friends, pastors, preachers, teachers, even the minds who came before us. It's why the idea of "reinventing the wheel" gets the response it does. So we are all standing on someone's shoulders and that's before we ever get to the point that we are wholly dependent on GOD'S mercy, tomorrow is promised to no one and neither is our next breath. The world turned that truth into a counter to instill fear, we get to see it as a testimony of how much each day must be seen and treated as a gift, for as the Psalmist says, "The dead in the grave cannot praise YOU." That we can say "Thank YOU" is a gift, because not everyone can, there are some, many even, still in the camp of fearing that fact rather than embracing the "next" our ABBA has promised and shown.
