TRUST YOUR DREAMS - Spring 1999 - My First Big Solo

BLAST FROM THE PAST - LOOKING BACK AT MY YOUTH

As I'm going through big life changes, I've been taking the time to reflect on both my mistakes, failures, and shortcomings (struggles with patience, impulsiveness and instant gratification) and also reminding myself of the pure light within – my soul. Being real with myself – I am NOT a sweet little princess. This Elsa has a dark side, a naughty side, and is even slightly evil, so I'm moving into actual atonement, as I also reconnect with my angelic self. It's all about balance.

My first big solo performance was at the local theater when I taught my middle school choir my song “Trust Your Dreams.” It’s pretty cheesy, and I hadn’t grown into my voice yet, but here’s a little entertainment. I’m the first singer and 13 at the time. The other soloist was my good friend. Watch for the girl that nearly faints at the end. Ah, good old awkward adolescence.

TRUST YOUR DREAMS

Behind the hills, across the sea, and way beyond the land,
There is someone just like you who'd hold you in their hand
Have you ever stopped to notice, all the people that you meet,
That there's got to be one out there who will sweep you off your feet?

Chorus:

I am willing to wait forever to find the one for me.
Yes, it might be hard to wait, but life is eternity.
There is someone for everyone. I know how hard that seems,
But you've got to believe in love.
You've got to trust your dreams.

When you're in a situation where you don't know what to do,
Trust your heart, and just believe that miracles come true.
There will come a time and place where you will meet that someone.
So, be yourself, and then someday your waiting will be done.

Chorus x2
