HOW TO MAKE YOUR CARES STICK TO GOD

Grandma Erickson's house and yard were a wonder to behold. My grandpa and grandma were pioneers and homesteaders in the 1800s. Selling their farm in a drought in Montana, they ended up in Long Beach, California, in the late 20s. By the time I showed up on the scene, they had built a house on an acre of land with a small garage for Grandpa to do his craft in.
Being the eternal farmer, Grandpa had fruit trees and gardens planted everywhere. Under the shade of a large, weeping willow tree was a big, swinging chair with a canopy where we kids would sit by the hour.
That generation of children invented the own games. One of them we called "Annie Annie over." Someone would throw the ball over the garage roof, and someone else would catch it on the other side. Well, in those days, my two sisters were against me in most of our games.
Little George would wind up and fire the ball as hard as possible, and the first would hit the gutter.
The next ball made it partway up on the roof.
However, most often, the third ball finally made it over the top, and I would yell Annie Annie over.
Most of life, patterns itself after the principles of heaven. And one of those principles that God has taught us in many different illustrations is persistence and faithfulness to what we believe will work.
The woman with the issue of blood touched the hem of his garment.
The blind man kept crying out until his disciples were embarrassed for him and tried to shut him up.
The commander of troops in the old testament had to dip seven times in the Jordan to be healed. Not once and not twice. But seven times.
Most of us give up far too soon when petitioning the father for something. We cast our care on the Lord one time and then quit.
I am encouraging you today to keep throwing the ball until it goes over the roof because God said he would deliver you and cares for you.
