My name is Richard Harrison Jr. and I want to take this moment to thank you for reading this. I am requesting your support in helping me seek justice. Here is my story:

When I was younger, I had the misfortune of being placed in a boy's home called the Boys State Training School in Eldora, Iowa. I was a resident there for fifteen months. Right away, I was physically and mentally abused, molested and raped by both the staff at the boy's home and a Catholic pedophile priest. I was often drugged and restrained to accommodate multiple rapists. This was so severe it has affected my whole life and self-worth. The school has faced a class action lawsuit from many of the students it tortured with this treatment. What we faced was extremely brutal. I've included a copy of the police report which shows what I endured. It is not easy to read but provides a window into the student experience at this school. Despite this horror, the defendants in this suit walked away with very little closure or restitution. Since I am incarcerated, I did not even get this small pittance instead of closure. Instead, I toss and turn, knowing the people who committed these crimes are still at large. I do not get to have a night's sleep without justice.

However, I have my own battle as a defendant to fight. I am a convicted sex offender, also. I have pleaded not guilty to heinous charges rather than accept a plea deal which meant confessing to horrific crimes I did not commit. That plea deal would have enabled me to be free as of this moment. The detective who participated in legal proceedings against me has since been removed from her position for tampering with genetic evidence in another sexual assault case. My constitutional rights were violated multiple times. The prosecution illegally downloaded attorney-client recordings. The charges against me were changed fifteen minutes before my trial, leaving my lawyer with no opportunity to prepare an adequate defense. There is no evidence to support the charges against me because I am innocent. I will not deny this truth. Due to this choice, I had to accept the alternative of a 25 years prison sentence. I've been going through the process of appealing the charges against me. And I've made significant headway. Many of the charges against me have been overturned. Unfortunately, though, my original lawyer has retired. The legal counsel I currently have is ineffectual and emotionally abusive. The donations I am requesting will help me continue to fight for my freedom and pursue accountability for those who deserve it. I respectfully request donations to put together a good legal team to truly uphold justice, protect others harmed as children, and find badly needed closure.
