The Eurasian wolf, also known as the European wolf or the common wolf, is a large carnivorous mammal that belongs to the canid family. It is widely distributed across Europe and Asia, and is one of the most common subspecies of wolf.

Eurasian wolves have a distinctive grayish-brown fur covering their body, and can grow up to 5-6 feet in length and weigh anywhere between 60-130 pounds. They are highly intelligent and social animals, living in packs of 4-7 individuals, and are often led by an alpha male and female.

Their diet mainly consists of large ungulates such as deer, elk, and moose, but they are also known to hunt smaller prey. Eurasian wolves have powerful hunting instincts, pack coordination, and incredible stamina that allows them to take down animals much larger than themselves.

Despite being one of the most widely distributed subspecies of wolves, the Eurasian wolf is currently listed as being of 'least concern' in the IUCN Red List, due to their strong population across their range. However, they still face threats from habitat destruction, hunting, and human-wildlife conflict. Overall, the Eurasian wolf remains an important apex predator and plays a critical role in maintaining the ecological balance of its habitat.
