Rep. Issa: Mark Pomerantz pled the fifth throughout House probe of Manhattan case against Trump

Representative Darrell Issa (R-CA) said Mark Pomerantz, former New York District Attorney who previously oversaw Manhattan’s investigation into Donald Trump’s allegedly falsified payments, has repeatedly invoked the Fifth Amendment in a private deposition with the House Judiciary Committee on Friday. Pomerantz left Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg’s office in February 2022 over disagreements on the direction of the Trump investigation. Bragg had sued House Judiciary Chairman Representative Jim Jordan (R-OH) to block Pomerantz from testifying to the committee, but agreed to the deposition on the condition that lawyers from the prosecutor’s office could be present.
