Old Fashion Masonic Podcast - Episode 23 – Famous Freemason Actors and Entertainers

Freemasons have been shrouded in secrecy for centuries. Its members have included many notable individuals, including several actors who have achieved great success in the entertainment industry. In this episode, we will take a closer look at some of the most well-known freemasons who were also actors.

One of the most famous actors that we cover in this episode is John Wayne. Wayne was initiated into the fraternity later in life, after being part of The DeMolay. He was a member of the Marion McDaniel Lodge No. 56 in Tucson, Arizona, and later joined the Orange County Lodge No. 562 in Santa Ana, California. Wayne was a devoted member of the fraternity, and he often attended meetings and events.

Another well-known actor who was a freemason was Charlton Heston. Heston was initiated into the fraternity in 1955 and was a member of the Saint Cecile Lodge No. 568 in Beverly Hills, California.

Mel Blanc, the voice behind many of the most beloved cartoon characters, including Bugs Bunny and Daffy Duck, was also a freemason. Blanc was initiated into the fraternity in 1933 at the age of 25 and was a member of the Del Mar Lodge No. 559 in California. He was an active member of the fraternity throughout his life and was even buried with his masonic apron.
Other famous actors who were freemasons include Clark Gable, Harry Houdini, and Bob Hope. Gable was initiated into the fraternity in 1933 and was a member of the Beverly Hills Lodge No. 528 in California. Houdini was a member of St. Cecile Lodge No. 568 in Beverly Hills, California. Hope was initiated into the fraternity in 1947 and was a member of the Cleveland Lodge No. 211 in Ohio.
