**Why Do We Hunt Pigs? **

Wild hogs are non-native and invasive species in Texas. Every year pigs cause millions of dollars in damage in the form of damaged crops, contaminated water supplies, damaged equipment, disease transmission, and injury to livestock.

Wild pigs compete with native wildlife for resources and directly prey on ground-nesting eggs and chicks and will actively hunt small mammals, frogs, lizards, and snakes.

Due to their intelligence, adaptability, and prolific breeding habits, traditional methods of hunting and trapping have been largely ineffective in reducing feral hog populations. The introduction of night vision and thermal optics has greatly enhanced the ability of landowners to mitigate the damage caused by wild hogs.

Wild hogs are not considered game animals in Texas and may be hunted by any means or method at any time of year.
