Tuberculosis (What The Positive Test Means)

Tuberculosis was called “consumption” for a reason. Tuberculosis has terrified humanity since the beginning of time, and today, it continues to cause millions of deaths around the world. The WHO has set goals to diminish if not, eliminate tuberculosis from the world, but so far, their efforts have failed to achieve the desired results. One reason for this setback is the presence of reservoirs of tuberculosis in the global population. Most of these reservoirs are in the form of people with latent tuberculosis infections that constantly reactivate, spreading tuberculosis to previously uninfected persons. Eradicating tuberculosis requires that people with latent tuberculosis receive treatment for their latent disease, which can only be achieved if screening takes place. TB/tuberculosis testing is therefore a pivotal tool in the fight against tuberculosis. In this video I discuss the positive tuberculosis test and all of its implications.
