Big Turtle 50K - 21 Year Old Wins His First Ultra Race!

On April 22 I ran the Big Turtle 50K at Morehead State University in Kentucky on a section of the Sheltowee Trace National Recreation Trail. I was joined by friend Cody Poskin from Missouri who easily won the race and set a new course record in the process. We had perfect weather for running but I was still plagued by some muscle cramping in the final ten miles that nearly took me out of the race. Fortunately I was able to finish 22nd out of 62 runners and 3rd in my age group and set my new PR. I stayed at the Twin Knobs campground the night prior to the race.
