There is a growing trend of skepticism and indifference towards climate-related votes in corporate America, with no Say on Climate proposals approved in 2021 and none proposed in 2022. Investors have also cooled on dedicated environmental, social, and governance (ESG) funds, partly due to their underperformance in the market. However, sustainable investing is witnessing increased activity in private markets, with an expanding supply of investable projects in clean, renewable energy and private equity firms launching new impact investing funds. Sustainable securitization is becoming more mainstream as well.
