Historical and Prophetical Overview and Analysis of the Revelation of Jesus Christ to John the Apostle who was a prisoner of Roman Emperor Domitian on the Roman Prison Island of Patmos in the Aegean Sea and the last living Apostle of the original 12 Disciples of Jesus (as all others and Paul had already been martyred) in 96AD. "Revelation" in greek is "Apocalupsis" which literally means "unveiling" or revealing. THEMES & SCOPES: Tri-partite division of the Book of Revelation: 1) Rev.1 Jesus reveals in Himself to John in glorified form on Patmos in 96AD ; 2) Jesus reveals "things which are" (now) Rev. Chaps 2-3; and 3) Jesus reveals things that will take place "after these things"(greek: metatauta) in Rev. chaps 4-22, that is, an outline of future events that will occur after the Church is Raptured to Heaven during the 70th Week of Daniel/Tribulation Period. ADDITIONAL TRI-PARTITE DIVISION: 1) Rev chaps 1-3 (the Church on earth); Rev. chaps 4-19 (the Tribulation of Israel on the earth and the simultaneous Marriage of the Church to Jesus in Heaven); 3) Rev. 20-22 (the 2nd Coming of Jesus at Armageddon and the Millennial Reign of Christ on earth/the Great White Throne Judgment and the Eternal State. RAPTURE IMPLIED: "Church" mentioned 19 times in Rev chps1-3. In Rev chap 4 John is told "Come Up Here!" and is transported to Heaven whereupon the word 'church" is never mentioned again in the Book of Revelation. Now "the Church" is in Heaven and once married to Jesus, is now known as "the Bride of Christ" instead of "the Church".
