This was Girtz’s second bare-knuckle boxing bout and he secured his first win in this combat sport at arguably the biggest show BKFC has ever put on. Girtz had his first fight in BKFC vs now-ranked welterweight, Jake Lindsey, and Girtz lost via doctor stoppage in the second stanza at BKFC 31.

The former mixed martial arts featherweight turned bare-knuckle welterweight locked in and took it all in during this bout. Girtz has a wealth of experience having fought in pro combat sports for over fifteen years since his late April 2008 MMA debut as a professional. He slowed it down, was measured, and said it felt great overall in this sophomore BKFC bout.

Brandon Girtz saw everything out there, knew nothing was going to deny him, and knew he brought his talent to the show here.

The Bellator MMA veteran described his opponent as a tough kid. In saying that, Girtz knew he’d be patient and eventually find his power vs Torres, which is how things played out as he blasted the six-fight BKFC vet.

When asked what was it like for him to feel the power of the bare-knuckle both delivering and receiving, Girtz stated,

“You know, we’ve been doing this sport for a long time. So the hitting is just a little different. Like you said, it’s - the cuts come. My first fight was a weird one and I got a cut from a jab, you know.”

“So that taught me to, you know, anything can happen in there. So this one was - I was going to be a little bit more patient with everything and find my shots better. That’s what I did. I just zoned right in.”

The hometown Denver audience galvanized Girtz’s already strongly motivated efforts with their passionate partisan support.

Ultimately though, Brandon Girtz fights for his family. He has a little boy who’s a little over ten months old and has another baby on the way. That’s everything to him and Girtz wants to show his kids that they can do anything they want to do.

He says this sport isn’t easy and making that walk shows that humans are really capable of overcoming a lot. Girtz makes a point of wanting to impart to his children how tough the family is to give them that resilience in their own pursuits.
