James Brown thoroughly outclassed Mike Alvarado on route to a second-round retirement at BKFC 41.

‘Get Down’ has twenty mixed martial arts contests over amateur and pro competition. Brown is riding a seven-fight winning streak in that sport and has now compiled back-to-back wins within bare-knuckle boxing
His first BKFC fight went the distance but this time Brown garnered that coveted stoppage inside the distance. James Brown is now 2-0 in BKFC overall and this is his second bare-knuckle bout of the calendar year. He made his debut in January against Stevo Morris at BKFC 35 and scored the unanimous decision victory there.
When talking to number two ranked pound-for-pound BKFC fighter, Lorenzo Hunt, who was representing Bare Knuckle News as media at the event, Hunt asked about Brown’s game plan for the fight. When discussing the machinations of the matchup, Brown said,
“The game plan was to not let him get close - not let him land those big right hands - to not box with a former boxing world champion.”
Mike Alvarado came into the fight as a forty-five-fight gloved boxing veteran who had interim WBO super lightweight world title accolades. Alvarado was making a much anticipated bare-knuckle debut in his hometown but Brown played spoiler for the partisan Denver crowd.
Hunt pointedly praised Brown for his ability to keep the distance, manage Alvarado’s aggression, and using that fervent pugilistic pursuit against him. He even stated that Brown was coming across like how Hunt himself did earlier on in his BKFC journey, where ‘The Juggernaut’ felt that nobody could stop him.
When ‘The Juggernaut’ asked what the future plan is for the product of Wilmington, North Carolina, Brown stated,
“Well, I went up a weight class for this fight. But I fight at 145 pounds - the featherweight division. My plan is to take that featherweight belt. There’s nobody on this roster in the featherweight division that can see me.”
Presumably, the upcoming inaugural featherweight title bout between Kai Stewart and Louie Lopez at BKFC 44 is something Brown will be a keen observer of on June 9th.
