What the Hail is going on here?
We’ve seen a lot of bad hailstorms across the country in the last few weeks.
I’ve spoken with folks who are worried that they may have hail damage.
As a building owner or homeowner, do you know what to look for?

Let’s review a few simple tips:
• Light gauge metal exhausts: They damage first in a hail storm,

if they look good your probably OK.
• Sturdy gravel surfaced built-up roofs and ballasted EPDM roofs are most resilient.
• White thermoplastic roofs with damage will show concentric circles at a hail strike.
• Shingle roofs and granule surface mod bit roofs with damage will show dislodged granules.

I’ve heard from many owners they are concerned about dishonest “Storm Chasers” that are trying to scam them. If you live in an area that requires a roofing license, ask them to produce it. If they don’t have a license, they’ll leave quickly.
