GOLDEN TEXT “Children, obey your parents in everything, for this is pleasing to the Lord (Col 3:20).

PRACTICAL TRUTH The way of raising and educating has an impact on the behavior of our children in the world, but it does not nullify the individual responsibility for their choices.

Today we are going to study the story of a well-known biblical character from the Old Testament who is Samson, where we are going to learn important lessons about raising children, we are going to see throughout this lesson that even his parents raising Samson in the ways of the Lord so that it would be fulfilled the mission to free the people, samson used his free choice and broke some principles.

Since the death of the last three judges, Ibzan, Elon and Abdon, Israel has been left without a leader. In this context, Samson appeared, born of a barren woman, but chosen by God to be his mother, and whose father was a man named Manoah, from the tribe of Dan. Samson was the 12th judge in Israel.

EBD | LESSON 6 ZEALOUS PARENTS AND REBELLIOUS CHILDREN | 2nd QUARTER OF 2023 - ADULT CPAD The period of the judges was a time when Israel, without having a specific leader, formed a kind of confederation, that is, of united tribes. At least 13 judges from different tribes served as leaders of the people. A few years later came Samuel, raised in the house of Eli the priest, who became his substitute as leader of that nation, prophet and judge. Samuel was the last of the judges and the first of the prophets. With this story we will learn that we, as parents, have the responsibility of teaching our children the way they should go, knowing that one day the children will have to choose for themselves. Our prayer is that the Holy Spirit will give each one of us wisdom so that we can do the best for our children, and that we will not be discouraged by the bad choices made by some of them.
