Sec. Mayorkas: DHS has been preparing for Title 42 expiration for over a year

During a press conference in Brownsville, Texas on Friday, Department of Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas said his agency has been preparing for the end of Title 42 for well over a year. Mayorkas said the DHS has been working on a six-pillar plan to manage the border following the policy’s expiration date since September 2021.
