Some people see the Indians as some spiritually enlightened people that were somehow pure and then the "white man" came so the indians became evil.
This is of course far from the historical truth. Between the Indian tribes there were some very warrior like who would raid other tribes constantly. Wars between tribes was not something that started when "the white man came".
Torture was very much present in those times. This doesnt excuse the mass genocide of Indians done by the colonists but the assumption that the Indians were somehow saints and the white colonists were evil is far from the truth.
