Elon Musk told select guests at a presentation at his company Neuralink's headquarters Wednesday that he expects a wireless brain chip developed by the company to be ready for human clinical trials in six months.

Neuralink is developing brain chip interfaces that could allow disabled patients to move and communicate again, as well as restore vision.

In recent years, Neuralink has conducted tests on animals and sought approval from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for human clinical trials.

According to Musk, the first two human applications of the Neuralink device are restoring vision and enabling muscle movement in people who cannot.
