The Trial of a Pope Corpse || The Cadaver Synod

The Cadaver Synod of 897 AD saw Pope Stephen VI order the exhumation of his predecessor, Pope Formosus, and put his corpse on trial. His acts and ordinations were invalidated by Stephen VI before his body was dumped into the Tiber River.
