Operation Wolf | PC-Engine playthrough | Real hardware

I don’t think you can get a zapper on the PC-Engine so this light gun game only uses a controller. But that’s fine, the controller works great. Especially when I set the speed to slow in the settings. Then I could be really accurate. This is a frantic game but not too much. A lot more relaxing than most zapper games and you never feel too overwhelmed.
Graphics are great with big sprites. There are 6 levels to go through and you have to conserve your ammo which is pretty unique for the time. It’s cool that you shoot a machine gun but you shouldn’t spray your ammo away so it encourages accurate aiming.
You can choose the first 4 levels in any order and the last level seems like you are fighting a last boss but another 2 open up afterwards. Once these are done, you open up another 2 levels, then the game is complete. Although it doesn’t feel that way as there are no credits and the game starts again in a loop.
I really enjoyed this game. It’s easy to get into. It doesn’t take long, and I felt like I was actually good at it because there are no unfair traps in the game. Apart from learning strategies for the 2 bosses, as long as your reflexes are quick, you don’t need to memorise anything else to complete the game.
