On Monday, the Oklahoma City Police divulged bodycam footage of a savage assault on an officer as she responded to a call at a northwestern apartment. The officer's family took to social media to declare their refusal to watch the brutal video. Sergeant Morgan Reynolds was released from the hospital on Monday, according to police authorities, but her countenance was severely disfigured, and her body mangled, a recovery that will take months.

Last Thursday, three calls were made to the police from the same apartment in northwestern Oklahoma City. A woman reported that her boyfriend, DeAngelo Wright, 26, was inebriated, had allegedly strangled her, and was provoking fights with her companions. Officer Morgan Reynolds arrived alone for the third domestic call, and during the pat-down, Wright became violent and started to throw punches.

"He turned on the officer and began to violently attack her," said Captain Valerie Littlejohn of the Oklahoma City Police Department. "Hitting her and causing her to go unconscious." Wright's girlfriend and another man attempted to stop the brutal assault, but the assailant turned on them. "That suspect then turned to the witness and attacked the witness and ended up fleeing the scene prior to the other officers arriving," Littlejohn said.

Later, officers found Wright hiding in a nearby apartment complex laundry room. The comatose officer was rushed to the hospital, where she underwent surgery over the weekend. According to court documents, Reynolds sustained a possible skull fracture, orbital fracture, concussion, fractured jaw, and several broken teeth.

Wright is presently detained at the Oklahoma County Detention Center on a $10,000,000 bond. He faces charges of aggravated assault on an officer, domestic assault and battery by strangulation, and disrupting an emergency phone call.
