Ruttie Petit was the wife of Muhammad Ali Jinnah, the founder of Pakistan. She was born in 1900 in Bombay (now Mumbai) to a wealthy Parsi family. Ruttie met Jinnah in 1916 when she was only 16 years old, and he was 40 years old and already a prominent political figure in India. Despite the significant age gap and religious differences, they fell in love and married in 1918. Ruttie converted to Islam before the marriage, taking the name Maryam Jinnah.

Their marriage was controversial at the time due to their different backgrounds, but they remained devoted to each other until Ruttie's untimely death in 1929 at the age of 29. Ruttie is remembered for her beauty, charm, and intelligence, and her short but influential life has been the subject of numerous biographies and literary works.
