Canada: Defence Minister Anita Anand provides update on evacuation of Canadians from Sudan – April 28, 2023

Defence Minister Anita Anand speaks with reporters in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia, to provide an update on the federal government’s efforts to evacuate Canadian citizens from Sudan. The defence minister confirms that 250 Canadians have been evacuated from the country so far, 117 of them aboard the two evacuation flights conducted by the Canadian Armed Forces on April 27. Anand also reveals that two planned Canadian evacuation flights were grounded, one due to mechanical issues and the other as a result of the volatile situation on the ground in the East African country.
