Did you know that giant mushrooms used to rule the world?

Over 400 million years ago during the Devonian period, our planet used to be covered by giant mushrooms called prototaxites that grew up to 30 feet tall and allegedly had a worldwide network of mycelium underground.

Unfortunately once aquatic life came out of the water and develop into land organisms, all of the prototaxites were devoured and never recovered.
