Canada: MPs and genocide victims alliance discuss petition – April 26, 2023

On Parliament Hill, Liberal MP Sameer Zuberi, Conservative MP Garnett Genuis, and Joanna Hutch from The Alliance of Genocide Victim Communities discuss their new campaign and petition. The petition asks for the House of Commons to sanction foreign nationals responsible for human rights violations against the communities the alliance represents, calls for a review of war crimes legislation, and seeks to prioritize victims’ resettlement to Canada. The new alliance bands together Rwandan, Tibetan, Tamil, Tigrayan, and Uyghur communities seeking to combat genocide through awareness and advocacy.
