Morning Reads: Acts 4:13-22; John 5:17-24; Psalm 3- “The Father and The Son Work Together…” See Note

Greek word of the day-Κνίδος Knídos, knee'-dos; probably of foreign origin; Cnidus, a place in Asia Minor:—Cnidus.

Acts 27:7

When we had sailed slowly many days, and arrived with difficulty off Cnidus, the wind not permitting us to proceed, we sailed under the shelter of Crete off Salmone. (The Voyage to Rome begins for St. Paul).

Acts 4:13-22 - Peter and John before the Sanhedrin

v. 13: UNEDUCATED AND UNTRAINED- is referring to religious education. The lack of religious training for Peter and John stands in contrast to the expertise of the Sanhedrin. It's the wisdom and the power of the Holy Spirit that transcends any earthly religious training, God works in the humble and simple as well as in those who are formally educated and very influential.

v. 16: We have ADMISSION of a NOTABLE MIRACLE without any faithful response is illustrating to us that hardness of the human heart because there is no repentance.

v. 19: God commands our obedience to governing authorities- (Luke 20:25; and Romans 13:1-7), obedience to God first and always. When the two are in conflict, the believer must follow God and be willing to accept the consequences.

Luke 20:25:And He said to them, “Render[a] therefore to Caesar the things that are Caesar’s, and to God the things that are God’s.”

Romans 13:1-7 Duties to the State- see my teaching video for full discussion. As we see in Scripture Peter and John did not defy God, but instead held firm to their teachings and they also accepted the consequences.

John 5:17-24 The Father and Son Work together

Jesus declares God to be MY FATHER, THE JEWS understand this to imply absolute equality- (see, vv. 17, 18). The Son can do NOTHING OF HIMSELF (v. 19), this is proving that His every act and word is in complete unity with the Father, and the Holy Spirit. This reveals that the Father and the Son are completely United in nature, will, and action. The Son fully shares the divine attributes of both giving life and executing judgement. CHRIST's JUDGMENT (v. 22) is based on both faith (v. 24) and works (v. 29).

John 5:24: “Most assuredly, I say to you, he who hears My word and believes in Him who sent Me has everlasting life, and shall not come into judgment, but has passed from death into life.

John 5:29: and come forth—those who have done good, to the resurrection of life, and those who have done evil, to the resurrection of condemnation.

Psalm 3

Psalm 3 is an historical account of Kimg David being persecuted by his son, Absalom (2 Kingdoms (2 Samuel 15-18). But prophetically it is speaking of Jesus as the Son of David according to the flesh-(see also Matthew 1:1; and Romans 1:3).

"The truth is silent while the lies are loud, we see this to be true from our reading in Acts 4(The treatment of Peter and John)." Jesus went silently and willingly to His Passion on the Cross, His adversaries were loud and full of lies and false witnessing."

Numbers 6:24-26

“The Lord bless you and keep you;

25 The Lord make His face shine upon you,

And be gracious to you;

26 The Lord [a]lift up His countenance upon you,

And give you peace.” ’
