Canada: Deputy PM Chrystia Freeland on Toronto public transit investment, federal public service strike

Chrystia Freeland, the deputy prime minister and minister of finance, announces a federal investment of $349 million to electrify the Toronto Transit Commission (TTC)'s fleet of buses. The investment will go towards purchasing 340 zero-emission and supporting upgrades to related infrastructure including site upgrades and electric charger installations. She is joined at the news conference in Toronto by Ya'ara Saks, MP for York Centre, Jennifer McKelvie, the city’s deputy mayor, and Fortunato Monaco, chief of engineering and infrastructure for the TTC.
