CONTROL AND INFLUENCE ARE NOT THE SAME. GOOD LEADERS KNOW THE DIFFERENCE

“While influence can be used to control others, control and influence are not the same. Influence advises, admonishes, informs, perhaps cautions, and still allows the decision to be made by those influenced. Control might use influence as a means to an end, but the end is always the same, a surrender of will and rights. Persuasion, manipulation, threats are all mechanisms of control and often influence is used to operate these mechanizations. Good leaders exert influence with the best interest of those they lead in mind, Good leaders allow decisions and consequences to be those of the individual.
