As reported by the South Korean media Yongap News, the singer's body was found lifeless by his representative around 8:10 p.m. at his house, located in Seoul.

Within minutes, Fantagio confirmed MOONBIN's death through a statement apologizing to the ASTRO member's family and fans.

Until that moment, the police version of what led to MOONBIN's death had not been released, but the Yonhap media outlet pointed out that according to the first suspicion of the authorities, it is that he took his own life, due to the way when the body was found.

For now, the police will carry out an autopsy on the body to finally confirm if this was the reason for his death, something that could take hours or days; however, the authorities mentioned that they were still discussing whether to carry out the procedure.

“It seems that he took his own life. We are currently discussing the possibility of an autopsy to determine the exact cause of death," the police said, according to the Yonhap News report.

MOONBIN's family and friends held the funeral inside a hospital where the body was taken, according to the Allkpop site.

Despite the statements by the South Korean police about the first suspicions of him, Fantagio asked fans not to fall for malicious or speculative reports and wait for the reason for MOONBIN's death to be confirmed.

ASTRO's agency shared a letter to fans of the group, Moonbin & Sanha, and MOONBIN's solo career, to mourn the passing of his star, without going into details, and to apologize.

"We offer an apology for bringing heartbreaking and unfortunate news (...) Although it cannot be compared to the pain of the bereaved family, the ASTRO members who have been with us, as well as colleagues, artists, and executives are mourning the death, with great sadness and shock," read part of the statement.

Regarding the reasons for his death, they asked not to fall into malicious information so that the family can live their mourning in peace and that the image of the deceased be respected.

MOONBIN, 25, started his career in South Korean entertainment when he was a child; at the age of six, he had already made his debut as a child model and actor.

One of the best-known works of his childhood was when he participated in the drama Boys Over Flowers, one of the most successful dramas worldwide.

Years later he joined Fantagio, an agency with which he prepared to debut as a singer. His life as his trainee was successful thanks to the fact that MOONBIN managed to get noticed, as it was revealed shortly before his debut.

Finally, after being one of the longest-serving trainees within the company, he finally debuted in 2016 with his fellow ASTRO members.
