Brief report of the third Assembly of Heads of State and Government of the OAU, which was held in Accra from 21 to 25 October 1965. Twenty-eight out of the thirty-six independent African states were represented, eighteen at Head of State and Government level.

During his opening address, Nkrumah called for concrete steps to be taken to form a continental union government. This, he suggested, could begin by through the establishment of a permanent executive arm of the OAU.
Eight member nations boycotted the conference because they accused Ghana of sheltering political dissidents.
