Chinook water dropping mission

Here, a Boeing CH-47 Chinook is called in on a spot fire found at dusk outside the fireline on the Dixie fire near Chester, CA. A handcrew worked into the night to ring the spot fire. The Dixie was one of the largest fires in California history. Thanks to the hard work of federal, state, local, volunteer, and private firefighters, as well as heavy equipment and avaition contractors, the town of Chester and several other towns were saved.
