Gate of Thunder | TurboGrax CD playthrough | Real hardware

This is such a cool game. Graphics look like the best a SNES could do. The gameplay is frantic and the weapons are excellent. I love how quickly you can upgrade to get screen filling weapons. Plus you can change your weapons to use tactically, and if you die, you only lose the weapon you were using.
This makes the game seems so much fairer than most shmups. Don’t get me wrong, it’s stil rock hard as you would expect but it feels fair.
The second to last boss gave me the most grief because I just didn’t feel like I had a working strategy against him and took me many attempts to finally beat him.
The last level is also rock solid. With many places where you can easily get hit even when you have learned the level well and have your route planned.
A super game.
