How to Tie a Double Overhand Knot #shortsvideo #shorts

The double overhand knot, also known as a barrel knot, is an extension of the regular overhand knot. What differentiates it from the regular overhand knot is one additional pass. The end result is a slightly larger and more difficult knot to untie. However, this makes it useful especially when wet.

The double overhand knot is a good stopper knot to tie at the end of a rope and it is easy to tie. Another good choice for a stopper knot is the figure eight.

Tie an overhand knot at the end of a rope but do not tighten the knot down.
Pass the end of the line through the loop created by the first overhand knot.
Tighten the knot down while sliding it into place at the end of the line. Be sure to leave some tail sticking out from the end of the knot.

This knot can be uses as a safety knot and for securing other knots that may otherwise slip or unravel. Remember to leave at least 15cm of tail. It can be used for fishing, sailing, climbing, and camping.
