WARNING: this video shows a police officer trying to shoot a teenager to death Meet James Brennand. Brennand worked for the San Antonio Police. While responding to a disturbance, he saw a car that he "thought was a stolen vehicle". It was not stolen. Brennand opened the door, and demanded the 17 year old driver, Erik Cantu, to get out and starts trying to pull him out of the car. Erik asks "why?", which is a legitimate question to ask when someone opens your door and tells you to get out for no reason and starts manhandling you. Brennand responds by taking out his gun and emptying his magazine into Erik's vehicle as he tries to escape. Erik was found by police a couple blocks away. His teenage passenger was unhurt, but Erik is now in the hospital with multiple gunshot wounds. Erik has been charged with "evading detention with a vehicle" and "assault on a peace officer". That's right. The teenage shooting victim has been charged with assaulting his shooter. Brennand has been fired, but thus far has not been charged with anything. This is the "thin blue line" culture of police lawlessness. This will not end until officers start being held as accountable as any of us would be held. End qualified immunity. End police unions. End the government monopoly on policing.
